Flight 4846

If anything should change
Don't let it
The happiest I've ever been
And we're 45 minutes late out of the gate

So many passwords
And I'd hate for you to have to walk the dog alone
The biggest heart of anyone I've ever known
The lightest light

Drive carefully
I know that sounds funny coming from me
But everytime I leave for Toronto it's raining
And we're an hour late out of the gate

In the air it's different
You know that
Past the runway lights
Barrelling through the clouds
Not because there's angels here
But at this altitude
Here in the sky
It's easy to surrender
Fears are heavy
and subject to specific gravity

From up here
You look stronger
Like an icon
A poster of yourself
Frozen, turning your head with an ecstatic smile
Your hair cutting through the air

And once we land
I will take a deep breath
And swallow this lump
That belongs to our future

I am sure it will return
On the next go around
And my eyes will fill
Because you do that for me
And it's only fair
since I do that for you

And like you say
Our kids are in trouble
Because mommy and daddy
Are absolute saps

And so was your dad
And so is my mom
Its all we know
And so I can't think it's a bad way to be

Especially up here
Where matters of the heart
Become very fragile
And watering eyes
Look to silver blankets to cut through skies
